The program was created as a software project, i.e. a program within the NPRG023 subject at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. It loosely extends the CzechMap application, which is a browser for the vector map of the Czech Repulic written in J2ME -- a mobile phone application. The author of the CzechMap application is one of the MaGeX team members.
The present project aims to extend and improve the original simple application. It doesn't extend it directly, but above all the know-how acquired while working on the CzechMap application is used. The whole application is programmed from scratch and all the time a due respect is paid to efficient usage of all resources.
The idea of the project comes from the author of the original application, nevertheless, the whole programming team composed of mobile communication and devices enthusiasts is taking part in the development of the new application.
All of the team members have wide experience in J2ME programming and therefore know the problems and pitfalls of this language, which come above all from the lack of resources in the mobile devices (in comparison to usual PCs). All of the team members have accomplished some successful mobile phone projects as well.
